High Tea Mojito with Green Tea

High Tea /hī ‘tê/ is a meal eaten in late afternoon or early evening, typically consisting of bread, butter and tea—for extra relaxation… one should add rum.

My last trip before the world conceivably ended was to Mumbai, India. Upon my arrival I had endured the following; a canceled flight, a new flight, a super gassy gruff vegan who sat next to me for 15 hours, incomprehensible airport signs, and a raging fearless rickshaw. So when the following day I had the choice of either high tea or happy hour, it was a no brainer—tea wasn’t going to cut it.

I’d just finished my Mojito, when my friend-girl, Emily asked, “Have you ever tried a cardamom martini?” I hadn’t—why hadn’t I?! I knew cardamom to be citrusy, herbal and slightly minty. Of course! Why before, hadn’t I thought of that in my dive mixology?!

Hmmm maybe I wouldn’t have to miss High Tea completely after all…

High Tea Mojito with Green Tea

Notes:

◈ Using a already prepared and sweetened green tea in this mojito recipe will cause mojito to have a very bitter artificial taste, I highly recommend using a lose leaf green tea, or a green tea bag.

◈ Over muddling mint will sadly cause the mint to give off a bitter taste and be an eye sore for drink presentation.

◈ I chose Bacardi specifically for this recipe, but any silver rum of choice would be perfect.

◈ For a sweeter mojito add 1oz. of simple syrup.
